Artist Statement My recent paintings oil paintings are collages which incorporate historical and personal imagery that has shaped both popular culture and my life as an artist. The layered, cumulative process of collaging, glazing, and repainting leaves room for intuitive material and pictorial juxtapositions that can only arise from the unconscious mind. They are assembled with a stream of consciousness mentality and expand upon a central theme which resonates throughout the painting and usually bears some historical or cultural significance. Subject matter might include Octopuses, Elvis, Tigers or even Jesus.
